In the electrical assembly department, OptimaT cleared 300m² for the ESD zone, in which our customers' electronic products are assembled and packaged with a minimal risk of damage from electrostatic discharge. ESD - or electrostatic discharge - is an electric current between two different electrically charged bodies. In daily life we ​​often come into contact with ESD, just think of the small shock after taking off a sweater or when touching your car door. For us this is a momentary unpleasant feeling, but for electronic components it can cause irreparable damage.

By observing various precautions, you can minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge and the associated product damage. The keyword here is grounding. Everything and everyone must be properly conductive or grounded. Then the chance of damage to the products by ESD becomes very small. This damage can cause products to malfunction even before they are sold, which can entail high costs.

In the ESD zone in OptimaT, the risk of electronic discharge is reduced to a minimum. It starts with our employees who are dressed from head to toe in ESD-safe work clothing. Each employee also wears a conductive wristband that can be attached to the ESD tables via a spiral cable. In this way, the employee is also extra grounded via the table. The earthing of the employee is also tested before entering the ESD zone. Once present on our newly installed ESD floor, the employee couples himself or herself to the table with the wristband and starts assembling the products. This is done with certified ESD tools. The employees then place the finished products in the ESD-safe storage boxes. These boxes are transported to the storage area on ESD-safe pallets and pallet trucks.
